Wheel Skidder:
525B (S/N: 3KZ1-UP)
535B (S/N: AAE1-UP)
545 (S/N: 2FZ1-UP)

Description of Change: The geometry of the cab doors of newer machines has been changed in order to improve the sealing. A procedure to improve the sealing of the cab doors of early model machines is now available.

Adaptable To: The change to the geometry of the cab door was effective with 525B (S/N: 3KZ761-UP), 535B (S/N: AAE542-UP), and 545 (S/N: 2FZ433-UP) Wheel Skidders. The new modification procedure is adaptable to first production of the machines that are listed.

Table 1
Required Tools
Description     Quantity
Wood beam (4"x4"x36")     3
C-Clamps     2
Level (6'(1)     1
Scale     1
( 1 ) The level is used for a straight edge.

Inspection Procedure

  1. Remove the door from the machine.

  1. Place the door on a table or a work bench.

  1. Lay a straight edge on the inner panel of the door next to the latch bracket.

Note: Be careful to not place the straight edge on the inner welds.

  1. Measure the gap between the centerline of the door (inner panel) and the straight edge.

  1. If a gap of 4 to 7 mm (.158 to .276 inch) is achieved, install the door on the machine.

  1. If a gap of 4 to 7 mm (.158 to .276 inch) is not achieved, perform the modification procedures that are listed below.

Modification Procedure

  1. Place the door on a table or a work bench. In order to increase the bow of the door, the inner surface of the door should be facing upward. In order to decrease the bow of the door, the inner surface of the door should be facing downward.

Note: The table or the work bench must be strong enough to withstand force of the C-clamp when the door is bending.

  1. Place one wooden beam under each end of the door. Then, place one wooden beam in the center of the door on the top. Place cardboard between the wood beams and the door in order to protect the painted surface.

  1. Apply two C-clamps to the center of the wood beam and the table. Turn the C-clamps evenly until the desired amount of bow is obtained.

  1. If a gap of 4 to 7 mm (.158 to .276 inch) is achieved, install the door on the machine.
