Description of Change: The new fan spider assemblies reduce erosion on the tips of fan blades when the fan spider assemblies are used with improved radiator cores and new software. The new fan spider assemblies have eleven blades instead of the former eight blades. The new system requires a reduced fan speed.

Adaptable To: The new 232-4571 Fan Spider As replaces the former 160-0737 Fan Spider As .

This new fan spider assembly is effective with D11R (S/N: AAF202-UP; 7PZ669, 671-673, 675 and 681-UP) Track-Type Tractors. The fan spider assembly is adaptable to D11R (S/N: AAF1-201; 7PZ1-668, 670, 674 and 676-680) Track-Type Tractors.

The new fan spider assembly requires the latest software for the VIDS ECM and for the engine ECM. Also, this fan spider assembly requires twelve radiator cores with high performance plate fins. Table 1 lists the required parts.

( 1 ) This radiator core assembly can be replaced by the high ambient 228-9606 Radiator Core Assembly .
After replacing the 160-0737 Fan Spider As with the 232-4571 Fan Spider As, refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting Manual, RENR7981, "Hydraulic Fan Drive System - Test and Adjust" in order to adjust the fan pump. The fan pump must be adjusted in order to reduce the fan speed for the new fan spider assembly.
