An Improved Blower Assembly in the Air Conditioner Group Is Now Used on Certain Wheel Loaders {7320}

Description of Change: An Improved air conditioner group has a new brush less blower motor on the machine listed above. The new blower assembly with an onboard integrated speed control will reduce interference on CB and FM radio bands. The new blower motor will enhance radio signal performance in remote location.

Adaptable To: New 361-5586 Blower As is adaptable to machines and effective in production with machines that are listed in Table

  1. Remove right-hand quick access panel (A) under the right-hand side console as shown in Illustration 1.

  1. Remove four pin Power DT and two pin DT connectors to the module and remove any tie straps on the pigtail.

  1. Remove two M6 bolts attaching the blower speed controller bracket to the cab console support. Remove 288-8557 Air Conditioner and Heater Control As. Discard all parts. Refer to Illustration 2.

    (B) Cap this connection

    (C) Install wire assembly

  1. At location (B) cap off the two pin DT connector using a 374-7464 Seal Cap (2) .

  1. At location (C) install 431-5058 Wire As (3) onto the four pin power DT plug. The 431-5058 Wire As (3) provides power and ground to the HVAC unit. Refer to Illustration 2 and Illustration 3.

  1. Remove large plastic right-hand side cab skirt (D) as shown in Illustration 4.

  1. Remove right-hand side cab skirt (E) and partially remove the right-hand fender (F) as shown in Illustration 5.

  1. Remove 12 pin DT plug from the chassis harness to the lower bulkhead connection in the RH side of the cab as shown in Illustration 6 and Illustration 7.

  1. Remove the green terminal lock and remove wire C584-WH from position 8. Plug cavity 8 in R-C28 and install green lock as shown in Illustration 8.

  1. Secure the filter access lid and remove the cab filter (G) as shown in Illustration 9.

    (H) Tie strap

    (J) Connector

  1. Cut the tie strap (H) and disconnect the old blower motor connectors (J) and remove the screws and the blower. Discard the old blower. Refer to Illustration 10.

  1. Cut a 3/4 inch hole in the side of the unit to allow routing of the signal wire and assemble 8P-8540 Grommet (4). Refer to Illustration 11.

  1. Assemble existing socket of connector 584 wire in to the new 155-2270 Connecting Plug Kit DT Connector Position 1 reinstall the green lock and insert 8T-8737 Seal Plug in to position 2. Refer to Illustration 12.

  1. Assemble 9X-3401 Connector Pin on to the 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) length of 18 gage white wire to extend the connector 584 signal inside the unit. Connect the 18 AWG wire into Position 1 of the new 102-8802 Receptacle Kit two pin receptacle and reinstall the green lock.

  1. Assemble 8T-8737 Seal Plug into Position 2. Apply conduit or hose to the 18 AWG wire and extend inside the blower motor housing through the hole.

  1. Assemble 9X-3401 Connector Pin on to the wire and connect the wire to Position 3 of the 155-2271 Connecting Plug Kit to the four pin connector.

  1. Insert an 8T-8737 Seal Plug into Position 4 of the four pin connector.

  1. Remove the wires 515-GY-14 and 239-BK-14 from the existing two pin connector. Discard two pin connectors and a green lock.

  1. Assemble the existing 515-GY wire into Position 1 and the 239-BK wire into Position 2 of the new 155-2271 Connecting Plug Kit with four pin connector.

  1. Insert an 8T-8737 Seal Plug into Position 4 and reinstall the green lock. Depending on vintage, some 515-GY and 239-BK wires may need new 9W-0844 Connector Socket pins installed. Refer to Illustration 12.

  1. Assemble new blower assembly (1) deliberately. Do not drop the screws into the housing. Connect the blower assembly to the new four pin connector.

  1. Install grommet and seal with RTV sealant and test blower assembly for proper operation.

  1. Assemble filter cover, HVAC unit cover, fender, cab skirt, and cab interior access panel.
