Description of Change: The weld for the handrail support plate assembly has been improved on the machines listed above. The improved weld will provide robust support for handrail assembly.

Adaptable To: The improved weld for the 356-3478 Plate As is adaptable to machines and effective in production with machines that are listed in Table 1.

Use the following rework procedure in order to update the above listed adaptable to machines with the improved weld joint for the 356-3478 Plate As .

Gouge out the weld completely between 356-3478 Plate As (A) and push frame assembly (B). Refer to Illustration 1.

Remove paint and clean the surface. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures" for the proper cleaning and welding procedures.

Weld the 356-3478 Plate As to frame assembly (B). Use multiple passes to fill in the gap under the plate on the "downhill side" of the support until a minimum of 6 mm (0.2 inch) weld contact can be made with the handrail support. Final weld size, approximately 10 mm (0.4 inch).
