2014/08/25 An Improved Cab Door Gas Spring and Door Stop Is Now Used on Certain Medium Wheel Loader Machines Equipped with Front Window Guards {7165, 7182, 7308, 7310}

Description of Change: An improved left-hand Cab Door Gas Spring and a new Door Stop Bracket Assembly are now used on certain Medium Wheel Loader machines equipped with front window guards. The improved Gas Spring and additional Door Stop will improve the service life of the Gas Spring.

If the existing 367-2178 Gas Spring fails on the left-hand Cab Door, replace with a new 367-2178 Gas Spring (2). Service Parts stock contains the improved design. Install an additional Door Stop consisting of one 132-3421 Bumper (1) and one 443-4820 Bracket As (3) .

The improved gas springs are adaptable to the following machines:

  1. Remove door panel (A) and hardware. Refer to Illustration 1.

  1. Remove existing gas spring (B) .

  1. Inspect mounting ball studs (C) for the gas spring. If the parts are damaged or broken, replace the ball studs.

  1. Inspect the welds on the mounting boss and bracket the ball studs are fastened to for damage or separation. If the weld on the mounting boss on the door assembly requires repair, proceed with weld repair.

    If the mounting bracket weld on the ROPS Assembly requires repair, work with your dealer technical communicator to contact the Dealer Solutions Network (DSN) for further instructions.

    For the proper procedure, refer to Special Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures".

  1. Install new gas spring (2) .

  1. Remove the eight bolts that attach the 360-2007 Window Guard Gp to the cab.

    (E) 55 ± 1.5 mm (2.2 ± 0.1 inch)

    (3) 443-4820 Bracket As

  1. Remove paint and clean the mounting plate in the upper right-hand corner of the 360-2007 Window Guard Gp .

    Tack weld 443-4820 Bracket As (3) to the 360-2007 Window Guard Gp at the location shown in Illustration 3. For the proper cleaning and welding procedure, refer to Special Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures".

    (W1) 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld

    (3) 443-4820 Bracket As

  1. Finish weld bracket assembly (3) to the window guard. Apply a 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld (W1) on three sides of the bracket assembly as shown in Illustration 4.

  1. Paint bracket (3) and the mounting plate in the upper right-hand corner of the window guard. Use AVSpare approved primer and topcoat assuring adequate coverage.

  1. Install 132-3421 Bumper (1) to bracket (3) on the window guard as shown in Illustration 5.

  1. Reattach the window guard to the cab using the eight bolts removed in Step 6.
