2014/08/18 Improved Radiator Support Pin Assemblies and Support Bar Assemblies Are Now Used On D11T Track-Type Tractors Equipped With Copper Tube Grommeted Radiators {1353}
Track-Type Tractor:
D11T (S/N: AMA1-UP; MDG1-UP; JEL1-UP; JNS1-UP)

Description of Change: Improved radiator support pin assemblies and support bar assemblies are now used on D11T Track-Type Tractors equipped with copper tube grommeted radiators. The improved radiator support pin assemblies have a larger outside diameter that tightens the press fit between the support pin and the isolation mount. The improved radiator support pin assemblies also have a 25.4 mm (1 inch) thick plate welded to the pin. In addition to the support pin assembly improvements, the improved support bar assembly increases the clearance between the support bar and the radiator fan. These improvements will decrease the likelihood of the fan contacting the radiator.

Adaptable To: These improvements are effective with the following machines if equipped with a Mesabi radiator:

  • D11T (S/N: JEL334-UP; JNS135-UP; AMA501-UP; MDG164-UP)

These improvements are adaptable to the following machines if equipped with a Mesabi radiator:

  • D11T (S/N: JEL1-333; JNS1-134; AMA1-500; MDG1-163)

(C) Dimension 25.4 mm (1 inch) for new support pin assemblies. Dimension (C) may be 19 mm (0.75 inch) for existing support pin assemblies. See the Notes listed below.

(D) Contact

Note: If dimension (C) is 25.4 mm (1 inch) the rubber surface of isolation mount (6) closest to 25.4 mm (1 inch) support plate (A) should just make contact (D) with support plate (A) .

Note: If dimension (C) is 19 mm (0.75 inch) the rubber surface of isolation mount (6) closest to the 19 mm (0.75 inch) plate should NOT make contact (D) with the support plate. There should be a 6.5 mm (0.26 inch) gap between the rubber surface of isolation mount (6) and the plate.

Rework Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from flame cutting or welding on painted areas.

The effect of gasses from burned paint is a hazard to the person doing the cutting or welding.

Do not flame cut or weld on painted areas.

----------------------

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from fumes, gases and ultraviolet rays from the weld arc.

Welding can cause fumes, burn skin and produce ultraviolet rays.

Keep your head out of the fumes. Use ventilation, exhaust at the arc, or both, to keep fumes and gases from your breathing area. Wear eye, ear and body protection before working.

Protect yourself and others; read and understand this warning. Fumes and gases can be dangerous to your health. Ultraviolet rays from the weld arc can injure eyes and burn skin. Electric shock can cause death.

Read and understand the manufacturer's instructions and your employer's safety practices. Do not touch live electrical parts.
