- Move the machine to a hard, level surface. The surface must also be dry and free of debris. Engage the parking brake. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Ensure that there is no interference with other components when both of the brake pedals are applied and released. When both brake pedals are in the released position, the stop lights for the machine should be in the OFF position.
- Insert a 3.5 mm (0.14 inch) shim between Treadle heel stop (4) and pedal stop (3) of both the left brake pedal and the right brake pedal. Monitor the stop lights. When the shims are in place, the stop lights should be in the ON position. Remove the shims.
- Insert a 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) shim between Treadle heel stop (4) and pedal stop (3) of both the left brake pedal and the right brake pedal. Monitor the stop light. When the shims are in place, the stop lights should be in the OFF position. Remove the shims.
- Ensure that the stop lights go ON and OFF when the brake pedals are applied and released. If the stop lights work properly no adjustments are necessary at this time.
- If steps 3, 4, and 5 are not satisfied perform the following procedure.
- Insert a 3.5 mm (0.14 inch) shim between Treadle heel stop (4) and pedal stop (3) of both the left brake pedal and the right brake pedal.
- Remove plug (1) and turn the adjustment screw for switch (2) counterclockwise in order to turn the stop lights OFF. Then, turn the adjustment screw for the switch clockwise until the stop lights turn ON. When the shims are in place, the stop lights should be in the ON position. Remove the shims. The stop light should go to the OFF position.
- Insert the 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) shim between Treadle heel stop (4) and pedal stop (3) of both the left brake pedal and the right brake pedal. Monitor the stop lights. When the shims are in place, the stop lights should be in the OFF position. Remove the shims.
- Ensure that the stop lights go ON and OFF when both of the brake pedals are applied and released. Repeat steps 7, 8, and 9 if the stop lights do not work properly.
Note: If the stop lights will not operate properly after the adjustment procedure, remove the cover for the enclosure. The limit switch may need to be replaced.
- Install plug (1). If necessary, install the enclosure cover.
