  • Description of Change: An interim corrective action has been identified for the replacement of the ROPS/FOPS FILM.

To place an order, the order must be placed into the system as a "MEGA" order. After placing a "MEGA" order, you will then need to call your order analyst. An order that has not been placed as a "MEGA" order will be handled by the parts system as a standard order. The order will also be shipped as a standard order.

Adaptable To: The improved procedure for retention of the identification film is adaptable to all AVSpare machines.

    Solution

Before a new film is applied clean the area with a 50/50% solution of alcohol and water. Wipe the area dry with a lint free cloth. Position the film and apply 67 N (15 lb) of pressure to the film with the use of a dry squeegee or roller. This will ensure the adhesion of the film before the protective tape is applied. Apply the film at temperatures above freezing.

    Option 1

Relocate the certification film to the inside of the cab.

AVSpare products display the ROPS/FOPS Film in various locations that include the inside and the outside of the cab. Specific conditions of the work site may require the film to be relocated inside the cab. The relocation of the film will ensure better protection.

Conditions of the work site that have the ability to harm the film are the following:

    • Extreme weather conditions

    • Power washing

    • External abrasive materials

When the film is relocated to the inside, the film must be placed directly on the ROPS structural member. The film is required to be relocated to a visible location within the cab. The front A or the second B posts on the left hand side of the cab are preferred locations.

When the film is relocated on a canopy or an external ROPS, the film must be visible, and placed directly on the ROPS structural member. Locate the film on the ROPS so the film will be protected from weathering, external abrasion and effects of power washing.

    Option 2

The film can be covered with 3M 84824 that is a length of 26.6 cm (10.5 inch) and 10 cm (4 inch) wide.

The surface must first be cleaned with either the liquid 3M Adhesion Promoter 111 or a pad 3M Adhesion Promoter 86A. The 3M Adhesion Promoter's should only be used on the outer edges of the area to be taped.

Note: More adhesive is not better.

A transparent polyurethane protective tape may be used when the listed products are unavailable. The protective tape must be aircraft grade.
