Description of Change: An improved friction disc has been developed for the torque converter impeller clutch on the 988H Wheel Loaders. The properties of the new material provide improved absorption of heat that will increase durability and reliability.
Adaptable To: The 336-9318 Friction Disc is a direct replacement for 8E-8328 Friction Disc. When the hardware for the power train is updated, the software should be updated to 341-8671 Power Train Software Gp or a later version.

A new software group for the power train has been developed. 345-2259 Power Train Software Gp replaces 341-8671 Power Train Software Gp. The new software for the power train provides a higher top pressure which is identical to the previous software. 345-2259 Power Train Software Gp includes an adjustable parameter in order to adjust the dump pressure manually. The adjustable parameter "Torque Converter Pedal Minimum Pressure" setting can be found under the configuration group. Refer to Illustration 1. The torque converter pedal minimum pressure setting is adjusted to prevent driving through the brakes while the left pedal is fully depressed. Make small adjustments when you adjust the dump pressure. Test the machine in order to verify that the machine no longer drives through the brakes. Stop adjusting the parameter once the machine no longer drives through the brakes. If the pressure is set too low, a harsh shift may result. The 345-2259 Power Train Software Gp also includes minor changes to the limits that make the calibration of the impeller clutch more precise. 345-2259 Power Train Software Gp is compatible with either friction disc.
The 336-9318 Friction Disc is adaptable to 988H (S/N: BXY1-2917,2919-2920,2925-2926,2932-2933,2940-2942). 336-9318 Friction Disc is effective in production on 988H (S/N: BXY2918,2921-2924,2927-2931,2934-2939,2943-UP) and (S/N: A7A1-UP).
The 345-2259 Power Train Software Gp is adaptable to 988H (S/N: BXY1-2924). 345-2259 Power Train Software Gp is effective in production on 988H (S/N: BXY2925-UP) and (S/N: A7A1-UP).
