Description of Change: New software for the engine's Electronic Control Module (ECM) is now available for the above listed machines. The new software is a direct replacement for the previous software groups on the above listed machines.

The new software contains the following enhancements that will improve machine performance.

The new software reduces the derate setpoint for the high exhaust Temperature from 750° C (1382° F) to 725° C (1337° F). The setpoint for the amount of time that is required to trip the derate has been reduced from 15 seconds to 5 seconds. The strategy for the derate is 25 percent.

The locking feature has also been removed from the strategy for the derate. Previously if the engine was in a derate, power must have been cycled to the ECM in order to reset the strategy for the derate. The new software allows power to increase in two percent increments at ten second intervals if the exhaust temperature falls below 725° C (1337° F). New software for the Vital Information Management System (VIMS) will be required to identify the derate in the truck cab.

Adaptable To: The new software is adaptable to all of the machine engines with an ADEM III ECM that are listed in Table 1.
