1.1. Removal Procedure
Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on AVSpare products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Ensure that the No. 1 cylinder is at the top center compression stroke. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Finding Top Center Position for No. 1 Piston".
- Remove nut (5) and washer (4). Remove oil pump gear (3) .

- Remove the idler gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Idler Gear - Remove and Install".
- Remove bolts (2). Remove engine oil pump (1) and the O-ring seal.
- Check the condition of the bushing in the cylinder block for the engine oil pump. If the bushing is damaged or worn, replace the bushing.
