NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Check the condition of the seals that are located in the end of the arm and bearing assemblies. If one or more seals are damaged, replace the damaged seals. If one or more seals are removed, replace the removed seals. Place Tooling C around the bores for the seals on each lift arm before installation. Use Tooling A in order to install the seals into the arm and bearing assembly.

Install the seals with the seal lip toward the outside of the arm and bearing assembly.

Lower Pins (B Pins)

Note: The Pin joints are a slip fit. Proper alignment is important. Do not use excessive force in order to install the pin assemblies.

  1. Align the bores in the end of the lift arm and bearing assembly (2) with the bores in the work tool. Install shims (1) to each pin joint, as required.

Note: Use the proper shims that are required to center the arm and bearing assembly to the hinge plates on the work tool. Reduce the maximum gap to less than 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) between the hinge plate and arm and bearing assembly (2) .

  1. After the bores are aligned, attach a suitable lifting device and the hoist to pin assembly (3). Insert pin assembly (3) into the bore. Remove the suitable lifting device from pin assembly (3). Continue to push the pin assembly to full depth. The weight of pin assembly (3) is approximately 60 kg (130 lb).

  1. Position the metal flag on pin assembly (3) in the locking position.

    Illustration 9g00993612

  1. Place plate (5) in position, and insert bolts (4). Then, tighten the bolts.

  1. Perform Step 3 through Step 6 for the other side of the work tool.

Upper pin (C Pin)

Note: The pin joint is a slip fit. Proper alignment is important. Do not use excessive force in order to install the pin assembly.

  1. Install pin assembly (6). The weight of pin assembly (3) is approximately 60 kg (130 lb).

    Illustration 14g00993856

  1. Remove the suitable lifting device from pin assembly (6). Install pin assembly (6) in all the way and position the metal flag into the locking position. Remove the suitable lifting device from link assembly (7). Remove Tooling (B) and the suitable lifting device from the lever assembly.

    Illustration 15g00993815

  1. Position plate (8) in place and insert bolts (9). Then, tighten bolts (9) .

  1. Lubricate all of the joints for each pin assembly.

Note: Use the following steps in order to perform the correct break-in procedure for the work tool.

  1. Raise the work tool to approximately 1/3 maximum height.

  1. Lower the work tool to the ground and apply slight downward pressure. The downward pressure reverses the direction on the load on the pin.

  1. Repeat the procedure for 20 to 30 cycles. Then, gradually increase the height of the work tool at each cycle until the maximum height is reached.

  1. Lubricate all the joints on each pin assembly.

End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
