D6N Track-Type Tractor Machine Systems Bulldozer C-Frame - Remove Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydrualic System Pressure - Release".

2. Remove the bulldozer blade. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bulldozer (VPAT) - Remove".

Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

1. Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto the bulldozer lift cylinder.

2. Remove the retaining bolt (2). Remove pin (3) and shims (1). Mark the shims for installation purposes.

3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the opposite side of the machine.

4. Retract bulldozer lift cylinder (4).

5. Reinstall pin (3) and retaining bolt (2). Attach a suitable lifting device to pin (3).

6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the opposite side of the machine.

7. Install Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device in order to support the front of C-frame (5) during the removal of C-frame (5).

8. Disconnect hose assemblies (6).

9. Repeat Step 8 for the opposite side of the machine.

10. Remove pipe plug (7).

11. Remove dowel (8). Remove pin (9) and shims (10). Mark shims (10) for installation purposes.

12. Repeat Steps 10 and 11 for the opposite side of the machine.

13. Remove C-frame (5) from the machine. The weight of C-frame (5) is approximately 998 kg (2200 lb).

14. Use Tooling (C) (not shown) in order to remove bearing (11).
