Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the hydraulic oil tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the hydraulic oil tank is approximately 29.5 L (7.8 US gal).

  2. Open right side access door (1).

  3. Disconnect hose assembly (2) from the hydraulic oil tank.

  4. Loosen clamp (3) and disconnect hose (4) from the hydraulic oil tank.

  5. Remove cable strap (5) and disconnect harness assembly (6).

  6. Disconnect tube assembly (7) from the hydraulic oil tank.

  7. Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to hydraulic oil tank (8).

  8. Remove bolts (9).

  9. Remove hydraulic oil tank (8). The weight of hydraulic oil tank (8) is approximately 75 kg (165 lb).

  1. Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to hydraulic oil tank (8).

  2. Position hydraulic oil tank (8). The weight of hydraulic oil tank (8) is approximately 75 kg (165 lb).

  3. Install bolts (9).

  4. Connect tube assembly (7) to the hydraulic oil tank.

  5. Connect harness assembly (6) and install cable strap (5).

  6. Connect hose (4) to the hydraulic oil tank and tighten clamp (3).

  7. Connect hose assembly (2) to the hydraulic oil tank.

  8. Close right side access door (1).

  9. Fill the hydraulic oil tank. The capacity of hydraulic oil tank (8) is approximately 29.5 L (7.8 US gal).
