Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
- Remove the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".

- Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.
- Support rear drive shaft (4). Remove four bolts (3) and two straps (2) from each end of rear drive shaft (4) .
- Slide yoke (1) toward the rear axle assembly so that enough clearance is provided for the removal of rear drive shaft (4) .
- Carefully remove rear drive shaft (4) .

When the rear drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the rear axle assembly yoke. The rear drive shaft must be installed in phase with the center and front drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint groups, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned. |

- Slide yoke (1) toward the rear axle assembly so that enough clearance is provided for the removal of rear drive shaft (4) .
- Carefully install rear drive shaft (4) .
- Slide yoke (1) toward the rear drive shaft so that rear drive shaft (4) is properly located.
- Support rear drive shaft (4). Install two straps (2) and four bolts (3) on each end of rear drive shaft (4). The torque for bolts (3) is 71 ± 10 N·m (52 ± 7 lb ft).
- Lubricate the rear drive shaft. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.
End By:
- Install the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
- Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
