950 GC Wheel Loader Power Train Transmission and Torque Converter - Separate Caterpillar

Separation Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the transmission and the torque converter from the engine.

2. Remove transmission oil pump.

1. Remove bolts (1) and plate assembly (2).

2. Use a suitable lifting device attached to Tooling (A) to remove torque converter assembly (3). The weight of torque converter assembly (3) is approximately 32 kg (70 lb)

3. Mount transmission and torque converter (4) onto Tooling (B). The weight of transmission and torque converter (4) is approximately 745 kg (1642 lb).

4. Remove bolt (5) and the washer. Remove yoke (6).

5. Remove bolts (7) and valve assembly (8). Remove bolts (9) and manifold assembly (10).

6. Remove bolts (11) and manifold assembly (12). Remove the O-ring seal.

7. Remove bolts (13). Attach Tooling (A) to cover (14). Remove cover (14). Remove the O-ring seal.

8. Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to front housing (16). Remove bolts (15) . The weight of front housing (16) is approximately 136 kg (300 lb).

9. Use Tooling (D) in order to separate front housing (16) from transmission case assembly (18).

   Note: Make sure dowel pins (17) stay in place.
