Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the crankcase guard.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Open door (1).

  3. Remove panel (2).

  4. Remove clips (3).

  5. Disconnect hoses (4) and hose (8).

  6. Disconnect hose assemblies (5).

  7. Remove hose assemblies (6).

  8. Disconnect harness assembly (7).

  9. Remove bolts (10) and washers. Remove elbow (9) and the O-ring seal.

  10. Remove bolts (11) and the washers. Remove bonnet (12), the gasket, and the O-ring seal.

  11. Remove bolts (13) and bolts (14) and the washers.

  12. Remove engine oil cooler (15) and the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil cooler (15) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Lubricate the bore at both ends of engine oil cooler (15) with the lubricant that is being sealed.

    2. Lubricate the bore of elbow (9) with the lubricant that is being sealed.
