NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Open door (1).

  2. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove engine oil filter (5). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil Filter - Change" for the correct draining procedure.

  3. Disconnect hose assemblies (2).

  4. Remove bolts (3) and the washers. Remove engine oil filter base (4).

  5. Remove cup plug (6), fittings (7) and the O-ring seals from engine oil filter base (4). Remove fitting (8), plug (9), and the O-ring seals.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  6. Remove plug (15) from engine oil filter base (4). Remove O-ring seal (14) from plug (15).

  7. Remove plug (13). Remove O-ring seal (12) from plug (13). Remove spring (11) and relief valve plunger (10).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil filter base (4) and engine oil filter (5) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Install a new engine oil filter (5). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil Filter - Change" for the correct filling procedure.
