Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be cleaned thoroughly in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

  1. Apply a continuous bead of Tooling (B) to the face of the transfer gears housing (6) before mating transmission (4) to the transfer gears housing (6).

  2. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to position transmission (4), as shown. The weight of transmission (3) is approximately 425 kg (936 lb).

  3. Apply Tooling (B) to both sides of the washers before installing onto bolts (5) and (6). Install bolts (5) that connect transmission (4) to transfer gears (6). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 120 ± 20 N·m (90± 15 lb ft).

  4. Connect harness assembly (3).

  5. Install tube assembly (2) and bolts (1).

  1. Connect the torque converter to the transmission.
