1.1. Removal Procedure

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and (3) .

  1. Loosen fitting (4) and remove oil gauge (2) .

  1. Remove nuts (5) . Remove switch assembly (6) . Remove sound suppression cover (7) .

    Note: Do not pry or gouge the sealing surface of the engine oil pan. Use a rubber mallet to tap lightly on the engine oil pan, if necessary.

  1. Remove bolts (8) . Remove studs (9) . Remove engine oil pan (10) and the gasket.

  1. Tooling (A) should be applied at Locations (X) for a width of 4.00 ± 1.00 mm (0.158 ± 0.040 inch). Apply Tooling (A) to the joints.

  1. Position a new gasket and engine oil pan (10) on the cylinder block.

  1. Install studs (8) . Install bolts (9) . Install bolts (9) .

  1. Tighten studs (8) and tighten bolts (9) in the sequence that is shown in illustration 7.

  1. Install sound suppression cover (7) . Install nuts (5) . Install switch assembly (6) .

  1. Position oil gauge (2) and tighten fitting (4) .

  1. Install bolts (1) and (3) .

  1. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change" for the correct filling procedure.
