- Put identification mark (C) on the diesel particulate filter (3) for installation purposes. Identification mark (C) is showing the flow of exhaust gases through the diesel particulate filter.
- Loosen clamp assemblies (1) and reposition the clamp assemblies toward the center of diesel particulate filter (3). Tighten clamp assemblies (1) .
- Install Tooling (A) onto diesel particulate filter (3). The weight of diesel particulate filter (3) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
Note: Do not allow any objects to contact the internal element of the diesel particulate. Do not shake or bump the filter assembly.
- Loosen clamp assembly (2) and remove diesel particulate filter (3) .
Installation Procedure
- Install the diesel particulate filter (3) in the reverse order.
- Install new clamp assemblies (1). Use hand tools in order to tighten clamp assemblies (1) to a torque of 50 ± 2.5 N·m (37 ± 2 lb ft).
- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of clamp assembly (2) for a Distance (X). Distance (X) is 25 mm (1 inch) above the trunnion. Use hand tools in order to tighten clamp assembly (2). Tighten clamp assembly (2) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (133 ± 27 lb in).
