Be sure that the cycle time for the lift cylinders, the cycle time for the tilt cylinder, the cycle time for the multipurpose bucket cylinders, or the cycle time for the ripper cylinders is too slow. If this is the case then you should proceed with the following procedure.

Probable Causes

  • The line relief valves are set too low.

  • The line relief valve or the makeup valve is leaking.

  • Hydraulic cylinder seals are leaking.

  • The control lever is not calibrated properly.

  • System pressure is low.

Recommended Actions

The Line Relief Valves Are Set Too Low

Check the line relief valves that are affected. Make sure that the pressure setting is correct and not too low. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve - Test and Adjust" for your machine.

The Line Relief Valve Or The Makeup Valve Is Leaking

Check the line relief valves or makeup valves that are affected for leaks. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve - Test and Adjust" for your machine. If necessary, replace the relief valve.

Hydraulic Cylinder Seals Are Leaking

The seals for the cylinders are leaking for the affected circuit. Examine the implement cylinder rod seals for signs of oil leakage or weeping which may allow air to be drawn in when the rod end of the cylinder is below tank/ambient pressure (such as during bucket FLOAT).

The Control Lever Is Not Calibrated Properly

Be sure that the control lever position sensor is calibrated properly. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hystat Operator Control Calibrations" for your machine.

System Pressure Is Low

Check the system pressure. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic Pump - Test and Adjust" for your machine.
