  1. Check for the symptom.

  2. Determine that the symptom is active.

  3. Complete this procedure only if the symptom is active.

    Results

    • ACTIVE: Proceed to Step: 4.

    • NOT ACTIVE: If the symptom is not active, oil contamination could be the problem. Change the hydraulic oil. Change the oil filter element and clean the screens.

  4. Make sure that the engine is not the source of the problem.

Guidelines on checking the engine, refer to the System Operation, Testing and Adjusting for the engine in your machine.

    Expected Results

    • The engine is not the source of the problem. If the result of the engine power test fails then refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting for the engine in your machine for solving the problem.

    Results

    • OKAY: Proceed to Step: 5

  5. Check the hydrostatic temperatures.

    The temperatures should be below 95 °C (203 °F).

    Expected Results

    • The oil temperatures are correct.

    Results

    • OKAY: Proceed to Step: 6

    • NOT OKAY: Continue troubleshooting using more specific symptoms.

  6. Check the charge pressure and the cross over relief valve pressure settings.

Guidelines for checking the charge valve and the cross over relief refer to Specifications, System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Initial Pressure Tests" and Testing and Adjusting, "Charge Relief Valve - Adjust" for your machine.

    Results

    • OKAY: Proceed to Step: 8

  7. Calibration checks for the electronic pressure override (EPOR) sensors.

Guidelines for checking the electronic pressure override sensors refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Transmission Drive Pump Pressure Override Calibration" for your machine.

    Results

    • OKAY: Proceed to Step 9.

  8. Checks for the crossover relief valve.

Guidelines for checking the crossover relief valve refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Crossover Relief Valve - Adjust" for your machine.

    Results

    • OKAY: Proceed to Step 9.

  9. Conduct a test for the efficiency of the pump and motor.

Guidelines for conducting a test for the efficiency of the pump and motor refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydrostatic Pump and Motor Efficiency - Test" for your machine.
