24 volt power is supplied to alternator (3) from the batteries via fuse assembly (2) and alternator circuit breaker (4). The alternator circuit breaker protects the alternator and the wiring harness from circuit overload. With the key start switch in the ON position, power is supplied to the AVSpare Monitoring System.
With the engine running at high idle, the alternator generates a charge of 26 to 29 volts. A voltage signal is supplied from the alternator to the AVSpare Monitoring System. When the voltage signal is within the normal operating range, the AVSpare Monitoring System will turn off charging system alert indicator (5). When the voltage signal is outside the normal operating range, the charging system alert indicator will be on, indicating a fault.
