Illustration 1g00682621

There are a number of parameters that need to be configured in the Product Link "Configuration" menu. There are default values loaded, many of which are acceptable in most applications. However, care must be followed in setting these parameters to ensure proper operation and avoid increased messaging costs. Enter the PLM Installation Parameters last to ensure proper registration. Select the configuration screen by selecting the icon on the toolbar or by using the pull down menu as shown in illustration 1.

Maintenance Mode

The Maintenance Mode is used to prevent diagnostic and event messages from being reported when performing maintenance on the machine. The default is Off to allow normal operation of the system and should only be changed if the machine is to be serviced. This value should be reverted to "Off" after the servicing is complete. This value also reverts back to "Off" after 12 calendar hours to insure proper long-term operation of the system. If an event/diagnostic does occur when the Maintenance Mode is active, the event/diagnostic is ignored until the Maintenance Mode is turned off. If any created diagnostic codes are not cleared before the Maninenance Mode is turned off, the diagnostic codes will be transmitted. Remember to clear any diagnostic codes that were created during maintenance.

To configure this value, highlight it and select "Change" at the lower left corner of the screen. The current value will appear along with a pull-down menu to select the new value as shown in illustration 2. The choices are as follows:

  • On - This setting disables the PLM from sending any diagnostic or event messages.

  • Off - This setting allows normal operation of the system.
