Rear light/backup light circuit |
The components of the rear light/backup light circuit are the Power Train/Chassis Electronic Control Module (Power Train/Chassis ECM), the rear light/backup light relay, the transmission reverse indicator, the rear light/backup light switch, and the rear lights.

With the key start switch is in the ON position, 24 volt power is supplied from the batteries via circuit breaker #12 to the Power Train/Chassis ECM. 24 volt power is also supplied via circuit breaker #1 to the rear light/backup light switch and via circuit breaker #2 to the rear light/backup light relay.
Rear light/backup light switch (2) is a three position switch. When the top half of the rear light/backup light switch is pushed down the rear lights will be illuminated. When the rear light/backup light switch is moved to the center OFF position, the rear lights will turn off.

When the bottom half of the rear light/backup light switch is pushed down, the automatic mode will be activated. When the switch is in the automatic mode and reverse gear is selected, 24 volt power is supplied from Power Train/Chassis ECM (1) to activate backup light relay (4). When the rear light/backup light relay is activated, transmission reverse indicator (3) and rear lights (5) will illuminate.
