Note: Lubricate all of the bores with SAE 30W oil before assembly.
(1) Tightening torque for bolts ... 570 ± 80 N·m (420 ± 60 lb ft)
(2) Lubricate the discs and the plates with SAE 30W oil before assembly.
(3) Heat the bearing cup and the cone to 120°C (248°F) for a maximum of 8 hours.
Lubricate the bearing with SAE 30W oil prior to installation in the case.
Install the bearing cup and the cone.
After the assembly has cooled, position the assembly squarely against the locating shoulder.
(4) Tightening torque for bolts ... 150 ± 20 N·m (110 ± 15 lb ft)
Note: Lubricate the bolts with SAE 30W oil before assembly.
Tighten the bolts by an additional 1/3 turn.
Minimum torque after a 1/3 turn ... 300 N·m (220 lb ft)
(5) Rubber toric seals
All the surfaces that are contacting the rubber toric seals must be clean and dry at assembly.
Before assembly, apply a thin film of oil to the contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings.
The seal rings must be assembled square with the bore and with the toric seal. The seal rings must not have bulges or twists.
Refer to the Installation Instructions for Conventional Duo-Cone Seal Assemblies.
(6) Tightening torque for bolts ... 570 ± 80 N·m (420 ± 60 lb ft)
(7) Tightening torque for bolts ... 300 ± 40 N·m (220 ± 30 lb ft)
(8) Heat the bearing cup and the cone to 120°C (248°F) for a maximum of 8 hours.
Lubricate the bearing with SAE 30W oil prior to installation in the case.
Install the bearing cup and the cone.
After the assembly has cooled, position the assembly squarely against the locating shoulder.
(9) Tightening torque for bolts ... 300 ± 40 N·m (220 ± 30 lb ft)
(10) Heat the bearing race and the roller to 120°C (248°F) for a maximum of 8 hours.
Lubricate the bearing with SAE 30W oil prior to installation in the case.
Install the bearing race and the roller.
After the assembly has cooled, position the assembly squarely against the locating shoulder.
Note: Clean the sealing surfaces of ring (11) before the application of the sealant.
(11) Apply 6V-6640 Sealant in a continuous 5 mm (.2 inch) bead around the inside of bolt holes and on both sides of the ring.
After you join the parts, tighten the bolts within 5 minutes.
(12) Heat the bearing cup and the cone to 120°C (248°F) for a maximum of 8 hours.
Lubricate the bearing with SAE 30W oil prior to installation in the case.
Install the bearing cup and the cone.
After the assembly has cooled, position the assembly squarely against the locating shoulder.
(13) The brake port should be mounted toward the rear of the machine on both sides.
(14) Apply 6V-5765 Sealant to the threads of the speed sensor.
Install the speed sensor in the housing until contact is made with gear (C) .
Loosen the speed sensor by three turns.
Tightening torque of the jam nut on the speed sensor ... 25 ± 5 N·m (18 ± 4 lb ft)
Procedure for Preloading the Sprocket Bearing
- The parts must be clean and free of dirt. Lubricate bearings (8) with SAE 30W oil.
- Continuously rotate sprocket hub (A) .
- Seat bearings (8) against plate (B) . Gradually apply an axial load.
Axial load during seating ... 119000 ± 500 N (26752 ± 112 lb)
Tightening torque of three bolts (7) that are evenly spaced with an axial load against plate (B) ... 95 ± 10 N·m (70 ± 7 lb ft)
- Remove the axial load from plate (B) .
Tightening torque of 18 bolts (7) ... 300 ± 40 N·m (220 ± 30 lb ft)
The brake assembly must be disengaged in order to allow the carrier assembly to rotate freely.
The maximum pressure that is required in order to disengage the brake ... 1380 kPa (200 psi)
The brake must start to engage at a minimum pressure. ... 1140 kPa (165 psi)
When the brake assembly is fully engaged, the carrier assembly must not rotate until a torque of more than 1100 N·m (820 lb ft) is applied at the input pinion.
