Torque for all M10 locknuts (jam nuts) that hold the rod ends in place on the linkage rods ... 14 ± 4 N·m (124 ± 36 lb in)

(5) Torque for four bolts ... 47 ± 4 N·m (35 ± 3 lb ft)

Apply 1U-8801 rust preventive to all of the following items:

  • rod ends

  • pins

  • pin holes

  • locknuts

  • adjusting threads

Procedure for Adjustment of Steering Clutch and Brake Linkage

Torque for all 10 locknuts (jam nuts) that hold the rod ends in place on the linkage rods ... 14 ± 4 N·m (124 ± 36 lb in)

  1. See callout (B) of Illustration 1. As needed, adjust rods (4) and (6) in order to obtain a clearance of 7.0 ± 1.0 mm (0.28 ± 0.04 inch) between clutch levers (1) and (2) and the opening in the platform.

  1. See callout (C) of Illustration 1. As needed, adjust bumpers (3) in order to obtain a clearance of 1.0 + 1.0 - 0.5 mm (0.04 + 0.04 - 0.02 inch) between clutch levers (1) and (2) and the bumpers.

Procedure for Adjustment of Brake Pedal Linkage

Illustration 2g00101585

  1. Align the center of the slot in pedal (2) with timing mark (14) .

  1. Remove spring pin (11) that attaches rod assembly (12) to bellcrank (9) .

  1. Rotate lever (13) counterclockwise until the valve stem in the control valve reaches the bottom position. Then, hold the lever in this position.

  1. Depress brake pedal (2) to stop.

  1. Adjust rod end (10) in order to attain a free fit of spring pin (11) in rod end (10) and bellcrank (9) .

  1. Remove spring pin (11) in order to shorten the rod assembly. Shorten the rod assembly by two full turns.

  1. Replace spring pin (11) .

Governor Adjustment Procedure

  1. Remove rod end (8) that bolts to the control group on the governor.

  1. Move governor lever (3) to the vertical position. Adjust setscrew (4) inward until the setscrew comes in contact with the governor lever inside the brake pedal group. Loosen setscrew (4) by turning outward by one full turn. Tighten the locknut in order to keep the setscrew in place.

  1. Hold the control group on the governor in the LOW IDLE position and adjust coupler (7) in order to attain a free fit of spherical rod end (8) and the control group on the governor. Tighten the locknuts on coupler (7) .

  1. Move governor lever (3) to HIGH IDLE while the engine is running. Adjust setscrew (5) inward until the setscrew comes in contact with the governor lever inside the brake pedal group. Loosen setscrew (5) by turning outward by one full turn. Tighten the locknut in order to keep the setscrew in place.

Procedure for Adjustment of Decelerator Pedal

  1. Start the engine and run the engine at HIGH IDLE. Depress decelerator pedal (1) until the engine speed is 1000 ± 50 RPM. Adjust setscrew (6) inward until the setscrew comes in contact with the governor lever inside the brake pedal group. Tighten the locknut in order to keep the setscrew in place.

  1. Bring the engine back to LOW IDLE with governor lever (3) and then increase to HIGH IDLE position.

  1. Depress decelerator pedal (1) in order to stop the machine. Then, check the RPM. If the engine speed is not correct, repeat Step 1. When the engine is running at the correct decelerator RPM lock the setscrew in place.
