Problem
Problems have been reported regarding serviceability of the air filter element on D7G2 machines that are equipped with the 273-9225 Engine Enclosure Group and the 291-5668 Engine Enclosure Group . Access to the air filter is difficult. Access to the air filter requires the removal of the 274-8854 Support Assembly in order to service the filter element.
Note: The 274-8854 Support Assembly is part of the Engine Enclosure Group .
Solution
- Remove six bolts in order to remove support assembly (1) .

- Make two cuts into support assembly (1) in order to create a slot at hole (A). Grind the edges of the slot smooth in order to remove any sharp edges.

- Refer to Illustration 5, Illustration 6, Illustration 7, and Illustration 8. Grind a 45 degree chamfer on the hood at point (D). Grind the edges of the chamfer smooth in order to remove any sharp edges.

- Loosen the coupling bolts at the manifold and rotate the hose assemblies forward. Tighten the coupling bolts.
