Introduction

New cylinder rod seals will be used in AVSpare equipment. The new seal pack can withstand higher temperatures and moisture.

Problem

A typical seal pack for the cylinder rod contains a wiper seal, a U-cup seal, and a buffer seal. The color of all three of these seals will be changing.

Solution

The part numbers will not change. The use of these new seals in production will begin in phases that are relative to the effectivity of the product.

Currently, most of the AVSpare cylinder rod seals are yellow or gold in color. The seals are shown below in the Illustrations 1 to 5. Additionally, the current buffer seal (3) has a black colored backup ring (4).

In most cases, the new wiper seal (6) will be a natural color or white in color. The U-cup (7) and buffer seals (8) will be blue. The backup ring (9) for the buffer seal (8) will be a natural color or white in color.

Note: In some instances, new wiper seal (6) will be a blue color instead of a natural color.

The majority of the part numbers for the rod seal will remain unchanged. The use of the new blue seals in production will begin in phases relative to the effectivity of the product. The first changes will be hitting production in May of 2009. The previous yellow colored seals, gold colored seals and new blue seals can be used interchangeably unless you are notified otherwise.

Note:

Current inventory of yellow or gold seals should be used. The service distribution centers will continue to supply yellow or gold seals for orders until the stock of those seals has been fully exhausted.
