Problem

The transmission Dip Stick Tube 107-1344 on certain 966F II and
970F Wheel Loaders may crack at the base of its mounting plate.
This Dip Stick is located on the right hand side of the machine
in the articulation area and allows the transmission oil level to
be checked from ground level and improves the serviceability.
The 107-1344 Dip Stick Tube can crack at the mounting plate base
due to the unsupported length of the tube.

Action Required

Mount the 109-3049 Bracket to the right hand side of the transfer
gear housing as shown on the illustration (attached) using a
6W2342 Spacer, a 8T9399 Bolt and a 8T4994 Washer. The washer must
be placed under the bolt head and the spacer between the washer
and bracket.
Position the 7S8920 and 7S8921 Clip halves around the 107-1344
Tube and bolt the clips to the bracket end with a 8T8917 Bolt,
two 8T4223 Washers and a 6V8188 Nut.
Remove the dip stick tube cover and replace it with the 108-5680
Gage.
