PROBLEM
Certain 9U-7763 puller studs have been found to have inadequate heat treat which could cause the puller stud to fail at less than the rated capacity. There is a risk of the puller rod elongating and breaking at less than 150 ton. If the bar breaks, it could result in bodily injury up to and including death. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Dealers must remove all new and used 9U-7763 Puller Studs with a manufacturing date code of 05 19 from their parts inventory and service facilities. The date code is stamped in a Month Day Year format. Refer to Image1 for an example of date code identification. The date code shown in Image1 is: 05 19 (May 2019). 150T represents 150 Ton load capacity. The part number in Image2 on the other end of the puller stud is: 9U-7763 Dealers must also attempt to identify and notify any customers who have purchased one or more of the 9U-7763 Puller Studs to remove the affected puller studs from service as well. |
