The existing DEF pump can fail on certain AVSpare Products equipped with a C7.1 Engine. If the existing DEF pump fails it can cause failure to prime fault codes and result in inducements possibly shutting down engine.

1 Replace the Engine, and DCU software files to the latest available in SIS.

2 Replace the Diesel Exhaust Fluid pump with a new pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Diesel Exhaust Fluid Pump - Remove and Install".

3 Replace the DEF manifold filter with a new filter. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "DEF Manifold Filters - Replace".

4 Clean the DEF tank. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Diesel Exhaust Fluid Tank - Flush".

PARTS DISPOSITION

NACD:

Hold all 485-9753 DEF Pumps for a Parts Return Request (PRR). A Parts Return Request (PRR) will be issued to you through the Send-It-Back process after the claim is submitted. Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork. Handle all other parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.

If a Parts Return Request (PRR) is not issued to you after 30 days through the Send-It-Back process, handle the parts in accordance with your warranty bulletin on warranty parts handling.

EAME, LACD, and APD:

Hold all 485-9753 DEF Pumps for 30 days for a possible Parts Return Request (PRR). Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork. Handle all other parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.

If a Parts Return Request (PRR) is not issued to you after 30 days through the Send-It-Back process, handle the parts in accordance with your warranty bulletin on warranty parts handling.
