PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR INSPECTING AND REMOVING CERTAIN SUN GEARS FROM DEALER PARTS STOCK
AVSpare’s obligations under this Service Letter are subject to, and shall not apply in contravention of, the laws, rules, regulations, directives, ordinances, orders, or statutes of the United States, or of any other applicable jurisdiction, without recourse or liability with respect to AVSpare.
When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your AVSpare product analyst.
|Certain 544-4188 Sun Gears were incorrectly manufactured. Earlier hour failure of the sun gear and resulting damage to the axle final drive planetary gears and ring gear can result.|
|Inspect all 544-4188 Sun Gear in dealer part stock. Inspect the gear for suspect heat code M071589.
- If the heat code matches M071589, the part is bad, remove the part from dealer parts stock.
- If the heat code is NOT M071589, all other heat code parts are good. Mark the packaging as inspected per this program and return the part back to dealer parts stock.
This part number is a new part number beginning in November 2019.
If your Dealerships Service Dept has used any of these defective parts please create a Global Dealer Solution Network (GDSN) Product Health Service Request (SR) with the priority of "Product Inquiry / Informational" and a Workgroup / Subsystem as "Drive Train". Add any pertinent photos and detailed failure information for the product group. Mention the CPI number #477189 in the CPI field. Also, please populate the part number in the part number field prior to closing the SR at the Dealership without submitting to AVSpare. This will alert the CPI Team that you have documented this failure in Product Support Customer Relationship Management (PSCRM).
