This instruction gives the procedure for the installation of the new 3Y6693 Regulator in replacement of the former 3Y3706 Regulator on a 3Y3704 Alternator. As there is a difference between the new regulator and the former one, modify the alternato brush holder and the terminal F and install the new 3Y6693 Regulator used with a 3Y688 Conversion Kit.
(1) Remove the pole K (1), the pole F (2) and the brush holder (3) from the alternator.
(2) Remove the former terminal K (4) and the former terminal E (with the brush) (5). Install the new terminal K (with the brush) (6) to the pole K. Also, remove the spacer (7) from the pole F and install the new spacer.
(3) Install the pole K, the pole F and the brush holder on the alternator.
(4) Remove the former 3Y3706 Regulator and the regulator harness from each pole.
(5) Install a 3Y6693 Regulator (9) on the alternator used with the plate (8).
(6) Concerning the connection of the regulator harness, ground a black wire to the regulator and conect a red wire to the output pole, a white wire to the pole K and a green wire to the pole F.
Parts of 3Y6880 Conversion Kit.
(7) When installing the rotor to the rear bracket (10), push the brush up to prevent the bearing from interfering with the brush.
To this way. remove the screw
and put the wire into the hole of the brush pushing the brush up, Install the rotor to the rear bracket (10).
(8) After having assembled the new regulator, supply a positive (+) to pole K and a negative (-) to the pole F from 24 volt source because "FLASHING" to the rotor is necessary.
