Daily Care

Make a daily check for any loose nuts or bolts, worn ripper tooth tips, worn shank protectors or any parts worn to such an extent that they are no longer serviceable.

NOTE: Keep the ripper mounting bracket stud nuts tightened to a torque of 1500 pounds-feet.

Ripper Shanks, Protectors And Tips

RIPPER SHANKS, PROTECTORS AND TIPS
1-SHANK. 2-SHANK PROTECTOR. 3-QUICK-CHANGE PINS. 4-TIP. 5-PIN.

Replace tips and shank protectors before they are completely worn out and wear occurs to the shank.

Each shank (1) has a replaceable tip (4) which can be replaced by removing the quick-change pins (3) from the tip. To remove the pins, place a punch against the end of one pin and drive it from the hole. Only one pin at a time can be removed or installed.

On later shanks, the tip must be removed when removing or installing the protector. When installing the protector on later shanks the pin (5) must be installed before the quick-change pins and when removing the shank protector, the quick-change pins must be removed before pin (5). Early shank protectors are removed in the same manner as the tip pins previously mentioned.

Kick-Out Mechanism

Check adjustment every 2000 service hours unless oil bypassing the relief valve is detected sooner.

To adjust:

1. Position machine so cylinder rods can be fully retracted.
2. Loosen adjusting collar locknuts and turn collars (1) and (3) away from guide (2) until the cylinder rods can move a full stroke.
