Machine Operating Temperature Range

The standard machine configuration is intended for use within an ambient temperature range of −40 °C (−40 °F) to 50 °C (122 °F). Special configurations for different ambient temperatures may be available. Consult your AVSpare dealer for additional information on special configurations of your machine.

Machine Operation

To prevent injury, make sure that no people are on the machine or near the machine. To prevent injury, keep the machine under control at all times.

Reduce vehicle speed with the transmission control lever when you maneuver in tight quarters or when you are going over a hill.

  1. Adjust the operator seat.

  2. Fasten the seat belt.

  3. Raise all lowered attachments in order to pass over any obstacles.

  4. Move the governor control switch (1) to the desired engine speed.

  5. Place the parking brake switch in the OFF position.

  6. Move the transmission control (2) to the desired direction and the appropriate speed.

  7. Drive the machine forward in order to have the best visibility and the best control.

For all turns on level ground or side hill operations, use the RIGHT steer pedal for right turns and the LEFT steer pedal for left turns.

DO NOT make quick directional shifts or prompt stops with a raised bucket that is loaded. The bucket should be carried low to the ground while the machine is moving.

For prompt stops, quickly depress the center brake pedal or quickly move the transmission lever to the PARK position. Either movement causes an IMMEDIATE STOP.

The brakes are applied while the center pedal is fully depressed. The brakes are applied when the transmission lever is in the PARK position. The switch for the parking brake is in the ON position. The engine is OFF.

Watch for loose material that could fall over the back of a loaded bucket.

Changing Direction and Speed

Changing Direction

Illustration 2g00984425

Move the transmission control lever to NEUTRAL. Then pull the transmission control lever to the opposite direction.

For a smooth directional change, move the transmission control lever smoothly toward NEUTRAL and move the transmission control lever smoothly away from NEUTRAL. The machine moves if the governor switch is above the desired engine speed of 1400 rpm. The recommended engine RPM for proper transmission operation is set at high idle.

Changing Speed

Illustration 3g00984425

Slowing and stopping of the machine should be accomplished by movement of the transmission control lever toward NEUTRAL. Moving the transmission control lever quickly to PARK causes an abrupt stop. Quick movement of the transmission control lever to PARK from either forward or reverse should ONLY be performed when an IMMEDIATE STOP is required. The service brake pedal should be used for panic stops. The machine moves when the brake pedal is released.

Changing Speed in Motion (If Equipped)

Without the latest software, the work modes cannot be changed while the machine is in motion. This software can be obtained at your local AVSpare dealer for earlier machines. When the vehicle is in motion the machine can be switched between MODE 2 and MODE 1. Switching from MODE 2 to MODE 1 will cause the machine to decelerate slightly. Switching from MODE 1 to MODE 2 will cause the machine to accelerate slightly. When the machine is on a slope of 15 degrees or more the machine must be operated in MODE 1.

The following table shows the recommended mode for different applications.

Table 1
Switch Position  Mode 2  Mode 1
Application  Max Speed at 10 km/h (6.3 mph)  Max Speed at 7 km/h (4.4 mph)
Digging  X  X
Truck Loading  X
Load and Carry Mode  X
Grading and Dozing    X
Backfill and Clearing    X
Working on Steep Slope (more than 15°)    X

Note: The max speed values are based on default calibrations.

Note: The switch between modes is instantaneous.
