The AVSpare Monitoring System consists of an action alarm, an action light (1), and a gauge panel (2). There are individual alert indicators (3) for the different machine systems.

The monitoring system alerts the operator of a problem or of an impending problem. The panel is designed to alert the operator of faulty machine systems.

If the action alarm does not sound during the Functional Test or the display monitor is not functioning, do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected. Machine operation with faulty action alarms or displays could result in injury or death as any notification from the third warning category will not be brought to the operator.

Functional Test

Check the operation of the monitoring system. Observe the self testing feature when you start the engine.

The self testing feature verifies that the modules of the monitoring system are operating properly.

The internal circuits are automatically checked. The outputs (display, action light, and the action alarm) are automatically checked.

Illustration 2g00954614

The operator must observe the outputs in order to determine if the modules are operating properly. This self testing feature is three seconds long.

During the self test, all alert indicators flash.

The digital display window shows the following readouts:

  • All indicators of units (Deg C, kPa, miles, kilometers, rpm, and liters)

  • "X10"

  • Symbol for the hour meter

  • "8.8.8.X8.8" readout

The pointers in the gauges point upward. The pointers point to the left after pointing upward. The pointers point to the right after pointing to the left. Finally, the pointers point to the final position.

  • The speed readout shows "188", "MPH", and "km/h".

  • The action light stays illuminated.

  • The action alarm sounds once.

The monitoring panel is then in the normal operating mode. If a switch is grounded, the monitoring system will display the modes.

Warning Categories

The monitoring system provides three warning categories. The first category requires only operator awareness. The second category requires the operator to respond to the warning. The third category requires immediate shutdown of the machine systems.

Warning Category 1

In category 1, only the alert indicator will flash. This category alerts the operator that the machine system needs attention.

Warning Category 2

In this category, the alert indicator flashes and the action light flashes. The warning category requires you to change the machine operation. Changing the machine operation may be required to solve the problem that is causing the warning.

After investigating the cause and the alert indicator continues to flash, do not operate the machine. If the action light continues to flash, do not operate the machine.

Warning Category 3

In this category, the alert indicator lights and the action light flashes. The action alarm will also sound. This category requires immediate shutdown of the operation in order to prevent severe damage to the system and/or to the machine. Failure to heed this warning may result in possible injury or death.

Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.

Indicator Lights (Early Model)

Illustration 3g00954621

Air Inlet Heater (4) - This indicator shows that the air inlet heater is active. The indicator should flash while the engine is starting. The indicator should stop flashing when the engine starts.

Note: In conditions that are extremely cold, the indicator may flash until the engine reaches operating temperature.

Hydrostatic Transmission (5) - This indicator indicates that a problem exists in the hydrostatic transmission system. If the indicator light comes on, stop the machine in a convenient location. Investigate the cause.

Alternator (6) - This indicator indicates a malfunction in the alternator. If the indicator light comes on, stop the machine in a convenient location. Investigate the cause. The cause may be loose belts, broken belts, etc.

Check Engine (7) - This indicator indicates a failure or a malfunction in the engine. If this alert indicator flashes, stop the machine immediately. Stop the engine and investigate the cause.

Engine Oil Pressure (8) - This indicator indicates low oil pressure. If this alert indicator flashes, stop the machine immediately. Stop the engine and investigate the cause.

Fuel Pressure (9) - This indicator indicates that the fuel pressure is low. If this alert indicator flashes, stop the machine immediately. Stop the engine and investigate the cause.

Hydraulic Oil Filter (10) - This indicator indicates restricted hydraulic oil flow through the hydraulic oil filter.

Transmission Oil Filter (11) - This indicator indicates that there is a restriction in one of the transmission oil filters.

Transmission and Hydraulic Oil Temperature (12) - This indicator indicates excessive hydrostatic transmission oil temperature. Change the operation of the machine in order to reduce oil temperature. If the indicator light remains on, stop the machine in a convenient location. Investigate the cause.

Transmission Charge Oil Pressure (13) - This indicator indicates low charge oil pressure in the transmission. If this alert flashes, stop the machine immediately. Stop the engine and investigate the cause.

Indicator Lights (Current Model)

Fuel Level (10) - This indicator indicates when the fuel level reaches ten percent of tank capacity. You must refuel the tank as soon as possible in order to avoid running out of fuel. Refuel the tank within the hour.

Transmission Oil Filter (11) - This indicator indicates that there is a restriction in one of the transmission oil filters.

Engine Coolant Level (12) - This indicator indicates low engine coolant. This indicator will remain on for only thirty seconds during the engine starting procedure if the coolant level is below the minimum. This indicator also flashes at engine start-up. If this indicator flashes during normal operation, stop the machine immediately. Stop the engine and investigate the cause.

Transmission Charge Oil Pressure (13) - This indicator indicates low charge oil pressure in the transmission. If this alert flashes, stop the machine immediately. Stop the engine and investigate the cause.

Gauges

Illustration 5g00970445

Oil Temperature in the Pump Drive Gearbox (14) - The oil temperature gauge indicates the temperature of the oil in the pump drive gearbox. The red area indicates excessive oil temperature.

Fuel Level (15) - The fuel level gauge indicates the amount of fuel in the fuel tank.

Hydraulic Oil Temperature (16) - The hydraulic oil temperature gauge indicates the temperature of the hydraulic oil. The red area indicates excessive hydraulic oil temperature.

Engine Coolant Temperature (17) - The engine coolant temperature gauge indicates the temperature of the engine coolant. The red area indicates excessive engine coolant temperature.

Low Coolant or Low Fuel Level Indicator (Early Model)
