Warning Categories (Caterpillar Monitoring System)
`
1.1. Alert Indicators

The AVSpare Monitoring System notifies the operator of an immediate problem with a machine system or an impending problem with a machine system. The AVSpare Monitoring System provides four warning categories. The categories are based on the severity of the problem. The categories dictate the required response of the operator.

Table 1
WARNING OPERATION
Warning Category  Warning Indications (1)  Required Action  Possible Result (2)
Flashing Indicator Flashing Action Lamp   Sounding of the Action Alarm
No immediate action is required. The system needs attention soon.  No harm or damage
Change machine operation or perform maintenance to the system.  Severe damage to components
2-S  X (3)  Immediately change the machine operation.  Severe damage to components
X (4)  Immediately perform a safe engine shutdown.  Injury to the operator or severe damage to components
(1) The warning indicators that are active are marked with an "X".
(2) This is the possible result if no action is taken.
(3) The alarm is on continuously.
(4) The alarm is on intermittently.

The same AVSpare Monitoring System operates on a variety of different machines. The monitoring system is a flexible, modular system that includes the main display module and optional display modules (speedometer/tachometer module and quad gauge module).

Alert Indicators

Engine Oil Pressure (1) - This light indicates that the engine oil pressure is low.

Parking Brake (2) - This light indicates that the parking brake is engaged. If the machine is in neutral, only the indicator lights. However, if the machine is in a forward gear or a reverse gear, the action lamp and the action alarm also activates.

Brake Oil Pressure (3) - This light indicates that the axle oil pressure is low.

Charging System (4) - This light indicates that the battery voltage is outside the battery charge range. While the engine is running, the light also turns on when the alternator frequency is low.

Engine Coolant Flow (5) - This light indicates that there is no coolant flow to the engine.

Hydraulic Oil Filter (6) - The light indicates that the hydraulic oil filter is plugged and the bypass valve is open.

NOTICE

If the hydraulic oil filter is plugged, the bypass valve will open. Unfiltered hydraulic oil will flow through the system and damage to other system components may occur.

Transmission Oil Filter (7) - This light indicates that the transmission oil filter is restricted.

NOTICE

If the transmission oil filter is plugged, the bypass valve will open. Unfiltered transmission oil will flow through the system and damage to other system components may occur.

Secondary Steering (8) - This light indicates that the primary steering pressure is low.

Brake Oil Temperature (Axle) (9) - This alert indicator will light if the brake oil temperature (axle) is excessive.

Engine Overspeed (10) - This light indicates that the engine speed is too high.
