Test Switch for the Alert Indicators (1)

Air Inlet Heater Starting Aid (2)

------ WARNING! ------

If equipped with an air inlet heater (AIH) for cold weather starting, do not use aerosal types of starting aids such as ether. Such use could result in an explosion and personal injury.

Air Inlet Heater Starting Aid - If equipped, depress the top of the switch in order to activate the air inlet heater starting aid. The light inside the switch will light.

Light Switch (3)


Off - Turn the knob counterclockwise to the Off position in order to shut off all of the lights.


Parking Lights and Interior Cab Lights - Turn the knob clockwise in order to turn on the parking lights and the interior lights.


Roading Lights - Turn the knob clockwise in order to turn on the roading lights.


Front Floodlights - Turn the knob clockwise in order to turn on the front floodlights.


Front Floodlights and Rear Floodlights - Turn the knob clockwise in order to turn on the front floodlights and the rear floodlights.

Transmission Control (4)

Direction Selector

The transmission direction control lever (4) is located on the steering console.


FORWARD - Move the transmission lever upward.


NEUTRAL - The machine should not move when the transmission lever is in neutral.


REVERSE - Move the transmission lever downward.

Speed Selector

Rotate the transmission lever to the desired gear speed:

"1" - First Speed

"2" - Second Speed

"3" - Third Speed

"4" - Fourth Speed

Transmission Direction Control Switch

If equipped, the transmission direction control switch is located on the pilot hydraulic bucket control.

Note: If the machine is equipped with a transmission direction control switch, both transmission lever (4) and the transmission neutralizer switch must be in the NEUTRAL position before putting the machine into FORWARD or REVERSE.


FORWARD - Move the transmission neutralizer switch (if equipped) upward. The machine will move forward.


NEUTRAL - The machine should not move when the transmission lever and the transmission neutralizer switch (if equipped) are in neutral.


REVERSE - Move the transmission neutralizer switch (if equipped) downward. The machine will move in reverse.

Steering Column Tilt Lever (5)

In order to adjust the steering column, pull up the steering column tilt lever (5) and move the steering column to the desired position. Release the steering column tilt lever. The steering column will remain in the desired position.

Gauges (6)

Coolant Temperature (1) - This gauge indicates the temperature of the engine coolant.


Speedometer (2) - If equipped, this gauge indicates the ground speed of the machine.


Fuel Level (3) - This gauge indicates the amount of fuel that remains in the fuel tank.


Hydraulic Oil Temperature (4) - This gauge indicates the temperature of the hydraulic oil.


Transmission Oil Temperature (5) - This gauge indicates the temperature of the transmission oil.

Directional Turn Signal and Hazard Flasher (7)


Directional Turn Signals - The directional turn signal lever is on the right side of the steering column.

In order to activate the left turn signal, push the turn signal lever forward. An indicator light on the instrument panel will flash.

In order to activate the right turn signal, pull the turn backward. An indicator light on the instrument panel will flash.

Move the turn signal lever to the center position in order to deactivate either turn signal.


Hazard Flashers - Pull the turn signal lever upward in order to activate the hazard flashers. Both turn signal lights will flash. Push the turn signal lever downward in order to deactivate the hazard flashers.

Dimmer Switch (8)


Dimmer Switch - If equipped, press the top of the switch in order to activate the high beams on the roading lights. The indicator for high beams should come on when the high beams are on. Press the bottom of the switch in order to return the roading lights to low beams.

Engine Start Switch (9)


Off - Insert the engine start switch key only from the OFF position and remove the engine start switch key only from the OFF position. In the OFF position, there is no power to most electrical circuits in the cab. The cab lights, panel lights, tail lights, and the fuel gauge light are operational even when the engine start switch is in the OFF position.

Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position in order to stop the engine.


On - Turn the engine start switch key clockwise to the ON position in order to activate all of the cab circuits.

If equipped, the secondary steering motor will operate for three seconds when the engine start switch key is turned from the OFF position to the ON position.


Start - Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Starting" for information on starting the engine.

Note: If the engine fails to start, the engine start switch key must be returned to the OFF position in order to attempt to start the engine again.

Front Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch (10)


Front Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch - Turn the knob clockwise in order to turn on the windshield wiper. Push the knob in order to activate the windshield washer. Spring force will return the knob when the knob is released. Turn the knob counterclockwise in order to turn off the windshield wiper.

Secondary Steering Test Switch (11)

Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Secondary Steering" for more information.

Rear Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch (12)


Rear Windshield Wiper/Washer - Turn the knob clockwise in order to turn on the windshield wiper. Push the knob in order to activate the windshield washer. Spring force will return the knob when the knob is released. Turn the knob counterclockwise in order to turn off the windshield wiper.

Governor Control (13)

The governor pedal is located on the floor of the operator's compartment.

Push down on the pedal in order to increase the engine speed.

Release the pedal in order to decrease the engine speed.

Joystick Controls (14)

Your machine may be equipped with joystick controls that have three joysticks.

Pilot Hydraulic Bucket Controls


Float (C) - Push joystick (A) forward into the detent. The attachment will follow along the contour of the ground.

The joystick will remain in the FLOAT position until the joystick is pulled out of the detent. The joystick will return to the HOLD position when the joystick is released.


Lower (D) - Push joystick (A) forward in order to lower the attachment. The joystick will return to the HOLD position when the joystick is released.


Hold (E) - The joystick will return to the HOLD position when the joystick is released from the RAISE position or from the LOWER position. The attachment will remain in the selected position.


Raise (F) - Pull joystick (A) backward in order to raise the attachment. The joystick will return to the HOLD position when the joystick is released.

The joystick is detented in the fully raised position. The joystick will stay in the detent and the attachment will continue to rise until the attachment reaches the lift kickout height. Then, the joystick will return to the HOLD position.

Note: On later machines with pilot hydraulic bucket controls, the operator must perform one lift cycle before the electromagnetic detents are energized. This feature prevents movement of the attachment at start-up if the lever has been accidentally moved to the detent.


Tilt Forward or Dump (H) - Move joystick (A) to the right in order to tilt the attachment forward. This position is also for dumping a bucket.


Tilt Back (G) - Move joystick (A) to the left in order to tilt back the attachment.

Multipurpose Bucket Control


CLOSE (J) - Push control lever (B) forward in order to close the bucket. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.


HOLD (K) - The control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released from the CLOSE position or from the OPEN position. The bucket will remain in the current position.


OPEN (L) - Pull control lever (B) backward in order to open the bucket. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.

Side Dump Bucket Control


DUMP (J) - Push control lever (B) forward in order to dump the bucket. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.


HOLD (K) - The control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released from the DUMP position or from the RETURN position. The bucket will remain in the current position.


RETURN (L) - Pull control lever (B) backward in order to return the bucket. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.

Logging Fork Clamp Control


CLOSE (J) - Push control lever (B) forward in order to close the clamp. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.


HOLD (K) - The control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released from the CLOSE position or from the OPEN position. The clamp will remain in the current position.


OPEN (L) - Pull control lever (B) backward in order to open the clamp. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.

Joystick Controls (14)

Your machine may be equipped with joystick controls that have two joysticks.

Tilt Control


QUICK DUMP (D) - Push tilt control lever (A) to the full dump position. This will cause the work tool to tilt more quickly.


DUMP (E) - Push tilt control lever (A) forward in order to tilt the work tool downward.


HOLD (F) - When you release the tilt control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position. The work tool will remain in the selected position.


TILT BACK (G) - Pull tilt control lever (A) backward in order to tilt the work tool backward.

Fourth Function Control (18)

Switch (18) controls the operation of tilt control lever (A) . When the bottom of switch (18) is depressed, tilt control lever (A) will operate the usual tilt functions of the hydraulics.

When the top of switch (18) is depressed, the hydraulic flow will be diverted so that tilt control lever (A) will operate the fourth function of an work tool. For example, the tilt function for a rotary hydraulic broom can be locked out once the broom has been tilted to the desired position. Then, the lever would control the direction of rotation for the rotary hydraulic broom.

Pull tilt control lever (A) rearward in order to pressurize the left supply line. Push the control lever (A) forward in order to pressurize the right supply line.

Lift Control


FLOAT (D) - Push lift control lever (B) forward into the detent. The work tool will lower to the ground. The work tool will float with the contour of the ground.

The lift control lever will remain in the FLOAT position until the lever is pulled out of the detent. The lift control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released.


NOTICE

Never use the FLOAT position to lower a loaded bucket.

Machine damage can result from a bucket that falls too fast.



LOWER (E) - Push lift control lever (B) forward in order to lower the work tool. The lift control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released.


HOLD (F) - The lift control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released from the RAISE position or from the LOWER position. The work tool will remain in the selected position.


RAISE (G) - Pull lift control lever (B) backward in order to raise the work tool. Release the lift control lever in order to stop raising the work tool. The lift control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released.

The lift control lever is detented in the fully raised position. The lift control lever will stay in the detent and the work tool will continue to rise until the work tool reaches the lift kickout height. Then, the lift control lever will return to the HOLD position.

Multipurpose Bucket Control


CLOSE (H) - Push control lever (C) forward in order to close the bucket. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.


HOLD (J) - The control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released from the CLOSE position or from the OPEN position. The bucket will remain in the current position.


OPEN (K) - Pull control lever (C) backward in order to open the bucket. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.

Side Dump Bucket Control


DUMP (H) - Push control lever (C) forward in order to dump the bucket. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.


HOLD (J) - The control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released from the DUMP position or from the RETURN position. The bucket will remain in the current position.


RETURN (K) - Pull control lever (C) backward in order to return the bucket. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.

Logging Fork Clamp Control


CLOSE (H) - Push control lever (C) forward in order to close the clamp. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.


HOLD (J) - The control lever will return to the HOLD position when the lever is released from the CLOSE position or from the OPEN position. The clamp will remain in the current position.


OPEN (K) - Pull control lever (C) backward in order to open the clamp. When you release the control lever, the lever will return to the HOLD position.

Rotating Beacon Switch (15)


Rotating Beacon (if equipped) - Press the top of switch (15) in order to turn on the rotating beacon.

Transmission Neutralizer Override Switch (16)


Transmission Neutralizer On - Press the bottom of the switch in order to activate the transmission neutralizer control for the left brake pedal. The left brake pedal will disengage the transmission, and the left brake pedal will slow the ground speed of the machine. This permits higher engine speed for better hydraulic response.


Engage - Apply the brake pedal and reposition the bucket at the same time. When the transmission is in the Neutral position, this permits a faster engine speed. A faster engine speed creates a better hydraulic response.


Disengage - Release the brake pedal in order to engage the transmission, and release the brake pedal in order to disengage the brakes of the machine.


Transmission Neutralizer Off - Press the top of the switch in order to lock out the transmission neutralizer control for the left brake pedal. Both of the brake pedals will slow down the machine for normal braking.


Engage - Apply the brake pedal for normal braking of the machine.


Disengage - Release the brake pedal in order to release the brakes of the machine.

Service Hour Meter (17)


Service Hour Meter (17) - This gauge indicates the total operating hours of the engine. The service hour meter should be used to determine service hour maintenance intervals.

Traction Control (19)

Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Traction Control System (TCS)" for more information.

Ether Starting Aid Switch (20)


Starting Aid - If equipped, the starting aid may be required during cold weather operation. While you crank the engine, depress the ether starting aid button in order to inject a premeasured amount of ether into the air intake.

Parking Brake Control (21)


NOTICE

Do not engage the parking brake while the machine is moving unless the primary service brake fails. The use of the parking brake as a service brake in regular operation will cause severe damage to the brake system.


When the parking brake lever is engaged the transmission is neutralized. The machine will not move.

Shifting the directional control lever will not cause the machine to move until the parking brake lever is disengaged.

Parking Brake - The parking brake lever is located on the left side of the seat. Use the parking brake after the machine is stopped.

Parking Brake Engaged - Pull up on the parking brake lever in order to engage the parking brake. The transmission will shift to neutral. The alert indicator for the parking brake will come on. The alert indicator is located on the right side of the steering column.

Note: If the parking brake is engaged and the transmission direction control lever is in a forward position or in a reverse position, the machine will not move. Move the transmission direction control lever into NEUTRAL, and then move the transmission direction control lever into the desired direction in order for the transmission to be in gear.

Parking Brake Disengaged - Push the button on the top of the parking brake lever. Lower the parking brake lever in order to release the parking brake.

Secondary Brake - The secondary brake uses the same lever as the parking brake. If the service brakes fail to stop the machine, use the secondary brake.

Service Brake Controls (22)


Brake Pedals - Use the left brake pedal or the right brake pedal to slow down the machine's ground speed for normal braking.


Engaging the Brake - Apply either brake pedal for normal braking of the machine.


Disengaging the Brake - Release the brake pedal in order to resume normal machine operation.

Quick Coupler Control (23)


Engage - Press the top of the switch in order to engage the pins for the quick coupler.


Disengage - Press the bottom of the switch in order to disengage the pins for the quick coupler.

Hold - When you release the control lever, the control lever will return to the HOLD position. The coupler pins will remain in the ENGAGED position or in the DISENGAGED position.

To make sure that the coupler pins are fully engaged into the work tool, tilt the work tool downward onto the ground and apply slight downward pressure. Then, back up the machine. If there is movement between the work tool and the coupler pins, the work tool is not installed properly.

Move the diverter valve lever back into the original position. This will disable the control lever from activating the coupler pins.

Note: Operating instructions for specific work tools are not provided. The function of the control lever is dependent upon the installation of an Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturer's work tool.

Air Conditioning Control (24)


Air Conditioner Switch - If equipped, press the top of the switch in order to turn the air conditioner to the ON position.

Press the bottom of the switch in order to turn the air conditioner to the OFF position.

Rear Defroster Control (25)


Rear Window Defroster - If equipped, press the top of the switch in order to activate the rear window defroster.

Fan Speed Control (26)


Fan Speed Switch - This knob controls the three-speed blower fan motor.


Off - Move the knob to this position in order to stop the blower fan motor.


Low - Move the knob to this position for the lowest fan speed.


Medium - Move the knob to this position for a medium fan speed.


High - Move the knob to this position for the highest fan speed.

Bucket/Fork Selector Control (27)

This switch selects the tilt kickout that is operational.

Press the bottom of the switch in order to select the preset angle for the tilt kickout of the bucket.

Press the top of the switch in order to select the preset angle for the tilt kickout of the forks.

Kickout and Positioner Control (28)


Kickout Control - Push the top of the switch in order to activate the lift kickout and the tilt kickout. Push the bottom of the switch in order to deactivate the kickouts.

Temperature Control Switch (29)


Temperature Control Knob - Turn the knob clockwise to COOL. Turn the knob counterclockwise to WARM.

Ride Control or Load Check Switch(30)

Ride Control

If equipped, the ride control system acts as a shock absorber by dampening forces from the bucket. This helps to stabilize the entire machine.

Note: Push the middle of the ride control switch (30) in order to turn off the ride control. Placing the ride control system in the OFF position allows more efficient loading of the bucket. Failure to move the switch to the recommended position could result in damage to the machine.


Automatic Ride Control - Push the top of the switch in order to turn on the automatic ride control.

The ride control system will automatically turn on if the ground speed exceeds 9.6 km/h (6 mph). The ride control system will automatically turn off if the ground speed is less than 9.6 km/h (6 mph) and if the bucket is being operated.


Manual Ride Control - Push the bottom of the switch in order to turn on the manual ride control.

When the ride control switch is in the manual position, the ride control system will be operational at all times.

Load Check Switch

Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Equipment Lowering with Engie Stopped" for more information.

Autoshift Control (31)


Manual Mode - Push the bottom of the switch for the manual mode of the autoshift function.

Use transmission control (4) to select the desired speed and the desired direction in the manual mode .

If equipped, the transmission direction control switch on the pilot hydraulic bucket control is only active when the transmission is in second gear. Press the downshift switch briefly while the machine is in second gear. The transmission will downshift to first gear. The transmission will remain in first gear until a speed change is made or a direction change is made.


Automatic Mode - To activate the automatic mode of the autoshift function, push the top of the switch prior to shifting the transmission into forward or into reverse. Select the highest desired operating speed. The control selects the proper transmission gear according to the version of the machine and according to the ground speed of the machine.

Automatic downshifts into first gear are not allowed. Briefly press the transmission direction control switch in order to downshift the transmission by one gear speed. The transmission can be downshifted into first gear if an engine overspeed would not occur.

Hold down the transmission direction control switch in order to continuously downshift the transmission until the machine is in first gear. The normal autoshift function continues after the downshift switch is released for three seconds.

Quick Coupler Lockout Control

LOCKED - Move lockout control (33) forward and push the pin into hole (32) in order to lock the control lever.

Lock out the quick coupler control lever during roading. Also lock out the quick coupler control lever while the machine is being transported.

UNLOCKED - Pull the pin out of hole (32) and move lockout control (33) away from the control lever in order to unlock the control lever.
