Changing the direction of the machine is performed by first moving the direction/speed control lever to the NEUTRAL position. Then move the direction/speed control lever in the opposite direction.
For smooth directional changes, smoothly move the direction/speed control lever to the NEUTRAL position and away from the NEUTRAL position.

Move the direction/speed control lever toward the NEUTRAL position in order to slow the machine. Move the direction/speed control lever to the NEUTRAL position in order to stop the machine. If the direction/speed control lever is moved quickly to the NEUTRAL position, the machine will stop abruptly. Quick movement from either FORWARD or REVERSE to the NEUTRAL position should only be performed when an immediate stop is necessary. The service brake pedal should be used for panic stops.
Note: The speed/direction control lever will not automatically return the NEUTRAL position with the speed hold control lever in the ON position.
