If all of the alert indicators that are located on the left side of the steering console do not come on, investigate the cause.
Transmission Oil Temperature (1) - The alert indicator will light when there is excessive transmission oil temperature. If this alert indicator comes on, move the machine to a convenient location. Investigate the cause. |
Brake Oil Pressure (2) - The alert indicator will light and the action alarm will sound when the brake oil pressure is low. If this alert indicator comes on, stop the machine immediately. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine. Investigate the cause. |
Coolant Temperature (3) - The alert indicator will light when there is excessive coolant temperature. If this alert indicator comes on, move the machine to a convenient location. Investigate the cause. |
Engine Oil Pressure (4) - The alert indicator will light and the action alarm will sound when the engine oil pressure is low. If this alert indicator comes on, stop the machine immediately. Stop the engine and investigate the cause. |
Do not run the engine until the cause has been corrected.
Hydraulic Oil Temperature (5) - The alert indicator will light when there is excessive hydraulic oil temperature. If this alert indicator comes on, move the machine to a convenient location. Investigate the cause. |
Lamp Test (6) - Press the top of the switch in order to test the lamps of the alert indicators. All of the following alert indicators that are located on the left side of the steering console should come on when the engine is running. The action alarm should also sound. |
Note: The lamp test switch (6) is not equipped on machines with serial numbers above the following: (4YS01995), (9HS00846), (6WS02883), (7BS00927) and (1CW00502)

Secondary Steering (7) (If Equipped) - The alert indicator will light and the action alarm will sound when the secondary steering motor has pressure and the secondary steering motor is functioning properly. Immediately pull the machine to a convenient stop. Stop the engine. Investigate the cause. |
Use the secondary steering in order to steer the machine when the primary steering is not functioning. Use the secondary steering in order to steer the machine when the alert indicator for the secondary steering does not come on and you have performed the following procedure.
Note: When you turn the engine start switch key to the ON position, the alert indicator for the secondary steering will come on for three seconds. Then, the alert indicator will go off. If the alert indicator for the secondary steering does not come on, investigate the cause. Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.
Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.
Primary Steering (8) - The alert indicator will light and the action alarm will sound when the primary steering oil pressure is low. Immediately pull the machine to a convenient stop. Stop the engine. Investigate the cause. |
Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.
Note: When you turn the engine start switch key to the ON position, the alert indicator for the primary steering will come on for three seconds. Then, the alert indicator will go off. If the alert indicator for the primary steering does not come on, investigate the cause. Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.
Parking Brake (9) - The alert indicator will light when the parking brake is engaged and the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position. The alert indicator should come on during start-up. The alert indicator should go out when the parking brake is released. |
Note: The alert indicator will light and the action alarm will sound when the parking brake is engaged and the transmission is engaged. Move the transmission to the NEUTRAL position in order to stop the action alarm.
Electrical System (10) - The alert indicator will light when there is a malfunction in the electrical system. If this alert indicator comes on, the system voltage is too high for normal machine operation or too low for normal machine operation. |
If electrical loads (air conditioning and/or lighting) are high and the engine speed is near idle, increase the engine speed to high idle. This will generate more output from the alternator. If the alert indicator for the electrical system turns off within one minute, the electrical system is probably operating in a normal manner. However, the electrical system may be overloaded during periods of low engine speeds.
Modify the operating cycle in order to prevent overloading the electrical system and discharging the battery.
Low idle must be set correctly. Adjust for the high side of the low idle specification while the most often used electrical loads are turned on. In order to reduce the loads, use MEDIUM fan speed instead of HIGH fan speed.
If this procedure does not cause the alert indicator to turn off, then move the machine to a convenient location. Stop the engine. Investigate the cause.
If the engine speed is near operating speed and if the electrical loads are light, the alert indicator may remain on. If the alert indicator remains on, then move the machine to a convenient location. Stop the engine. Investigate the cause.
Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.
Note: The alert indicator will light and the action alarm will sound when a serious malfunction occurs in the electrical system. Immediately pull the machine to a convenient stop. Stop the engine. Investigate the cause. Do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected.
