Autoshift Function - The Finger Tip Control is equipped with an autoshift function. The autoshift function allows the operator to preset a FORWARD or REVERSE gear for directional changes.
The autoshift function includes the following settings:
- first speed forward to second speed reverse
- second speed forward to second speed reverse
Autoshift function can be selected with the push button (2). The push button is located on the left side of the dashboard. The current mode of operation is shown by the lights (1) above the push button. When the machine is started, the machine is in the manual mode. No light is lighted. Repeatedly push the button for the autoshift function in order to select the modes of shifting. The lights will display the desired mode. For the best results, change the options with the transmission in NEUTRAL. If the autoshift functions are not desired, the machine can be operated in the manual mode. The modes of the autoshift function are listed sequentially in the next topic.
Modes of the Autoshift Function
First Speed Forward to Second Reverse Directional Shift Mode - Push the button (2) once for the autoshift function. A directional shift to the FORWARD position will always shift to first gear. A directional shift to the REVERSE position will always shift to second gear. With the transmission in the Neutral position, the display for the transmission indicates "N". Speed shifting is manual. Use the buttons to upshift or use the buttons to downshift.
Second Speed Forward to Second Reverse Directional Shift Mode - Push the button for the autoshift function (2) twice. When you shift the transmission to the FORWARD position, the transmission will always shift into second gear. When you shift the transmission to the REVERSE position, the transmission will always shift into second gear. The speed shift mechanism is manual. Auto Kickdown - The Finger Tip Control (FTC) is equipped with an auto kickdown operation. If a significant load increase is detected, this auto kickdown operation automatically downshifts the transmission. This function works in forward and reverse gears.
Push button (4) in order to select the auto kickdown. The push button (4) is located on the right side of the dashboard. The current mode of operation is shown by the light (3) above the push button. When the machine is started, the transmission will be in the previously selected mode. If you start up the machine, and the auto kickdown operation is not selected, push the button (4). If the auto kickdown operation is active, the light will be illuminated. Select the auto kickdown operation with the transmission in NEUTRAL. If the autoshift function is not desired, the machine can be operated in the manual mode.
The auto kickdown can be operated in the following modes:
Manual Directional Shift - The auto kickdown allows the transmission to downshift automatically. Use the button on the tiller in order to manually upshift. After a manual upshift, auto kickdowns are prevented for two seconds. If the transmission is not in NEUTRAL, the operator can make manual shifts at any time.
Manual Shift Mode - Push the button for the autoshift function until no lights are illuminated. The transmission will return to the manual mode. Push the button for the auto kickdown until the light is not illuminated. Unless the operator pushes the upshift switch or the downshift switch for shifting, the transmission will not shift.
