Engine and Machine Warm-Up
`

NOTICE

Keep engine speed low until the engine oil pressure registers on the gauge or the engine oil pressure indicator light goes out. If it does not register or the light does not go out within ten seconds, stop the engine and investigate the cause before starting again. Failure to do so, can cause engine damage.

  1. When the engine is cold, operate the engine at low idle for at least five minutes. Engage the attachment controls and disengage the attachment controls. This will help to warm up the hydraulic components.

Cycle all controls in order to allow warm oil to circulate through all hydraulic cylinders and through all hydraulic lines.

While you idle the engine for warm-up, observe the following recommendations:

    • If the temperature is greater than 0°C (32°F), warm up the engine for approximately 15 minutes.

    • If the temperature is less than 0°C (32°F), warm up the engine for approximately 30 minutes.

    • If the temperature is less than - 18°C (0°F) or if hydraulic functions are sluggish, additional time may be required.

  1. Move the panel test switch for the electronic monitoring system (EMS) upward. The action alarm should sound. The alert indicators should come on. The action light should flash.

  1. Release the panel test switch. All alert indicators and the action light should turn off. The action alarm should also turn off. If the alert indicators and the action light does not turn off, stop the engine. Make sure that all necessary repairs are performed before you restart the machine.

  1. During machine operation, frequently look at the alert indicators and the gauges.

  1. Check the hydraulic oil level and the transmission oil level. Maintain the oil levels to the "FULL" mark.
