Tighten the battery retainers on all batteries at every 1000 hour interval.
Perform the following procedures at every 1000 hour interval. Check the following areas more often, as required:
- Clean the top of the batteries with a clean cloth.
- Keep the terminals clean and coat the terminals with petroleum jelly.
- Keep the terminal covers in place.
- Open the battery access cover. The battery access cover is on the platform next to the operator compartment.
- Clean the top of the batteries with a clean cloth. Keep the terminals clean and keep the terminals coated with petroleum jelly. Install the terminal covers after you coat the terminals.
- Close the battery access cover.
Check the Battery Electrolyte Level
Maintenance free batteries are installed at the factory.

When you are operating the machine in extreme temperatures, check the water in the battery cells weekly.
- Open the battery access cover. The battery access cover is located on the left side of the machine outside the operator compartment.

Illustration 2 g00039293 - Inspect the electrolyte level in each battery cell. (A maintenance free battery does not require inspection.) Maintain the electrolyte level to the bottom of the filler openings. Use distilled water. If distilled water is not available, use clean drinking water.
- Close the battery access cover.
