Variable Capacity Torque Converter

NOTE: Each job condition requires a different control setting.

1. Place bucket in desired digging position. Place wheel torque control in minimum wheel torque position (lever in left position).

2. Crowd bucket into bank or material. Do not use bucket hydraulic controls. Keep engine at full RPM.

3. Gradually move control lever to the right until the drive wheels begin to spin, then back off control lever slightly. Leave control lever in this position for maximum usable wheel torque.

4. When maximum drive wheel torque is required, depress the foot control to override the hand control. To return to previous setting of hand control, depress foot control again.

5. A light on the dash indicates the foot control is in override position to maximum drive wheel torque.

NOTE: Operate at full engine RPM while in loading cycle.

General

Carry loaded bucket low for operator visibility and loader stability.

Utilize "wait" time to clean and level work area.

Dump with wind to your back to keep dust away from engine and maintain visibility.

Use bucket teeth when working in hard material.

To control dumping, engage tilt control lever for a short period then return to HOLD. Repeat until bucket is empty.

Avoid excessive down pressure on bucket to prevent loss of traction.

Loading From a Bank

1. Start load at base of bank and follow up the bank.

2. Remove overhangs and watch for sliding material.

Loading From Stockpile

1. Position bucket parallel to and just skimming the ground.

2. Move lift control to RAISE position as forward movement slows upon entering material.

3. Work tilt control lever back and forth to "pump" in a heaped load.

4. Move tilt control to TILT BACK position when bucket is loaded.

5. The bucket will rise when tilt control lever is released to HOLD position.

6. Raise bucket high enough to clear material being loaded and shift range selector to reverse.

7. Carry loaded bucket approximately 15 inches (38 cm) above ground level.

8. Move lift control to RAISE after reaching dump area. Lift control will return to HOLD at preset lift height.

Loading Hauling Units

1. Adjust lift kick-out to raise bucket just high enough to clear sides of hauling unit.

2. Position hauling unit at an angle to material being loaded to reduce loader turning and travel.

3. Dump load in center of hauler body. Dump from front to rear if hauler body is 2 buckets or more in length.

4. Push tilt control lever forward to dump bucket.

5. Shake bucket to loosen sticky material. Move tilt control back and forth quickly, allowing tilt arms to strike stops.


NOTICE

Shaking the bucket by allowing the tilt arms to strike the stops unnecessarily and repetitively will result in accelerated wear and high maintenance cost of the loader linkage.


6. Pull tilt control lever back into locked position and push lift control lever forward to lower bucket. The bucket will return to loading position as you move forward for another load.

Dozing

Keep the bucket bottom parallel to the ground. DO NOT BULLDOZE WITH THE BUCKET IN THE DUMP POSITION.

Dumping

Use the bucket stops for maximum dumping angle. DO NOT ALLOW THE TILT CYLINDERS TO FULLY EXTEND.


NOTICE

Whenever the loader lift arms are near or below the horizontal plane, it is possible to extend the tilt cylinders to their fullest extent before bucket stops make contact. This may damage the cylinders and rods if pressure is applied to the cylinders or bucket.


NOTE: Whenever the tilt cylinders are fully extended the rod piston will contact the forward end of the tilt cylinder. If tilt cylinders must be fully extended (as in the loading of some hoppers), damage to the cylinders and rods can be prevented by making sure that the rod pistons contact the forward end of the cylinders with a very soft impact.
