- 1. Be sure safety link is secured in unlocked position.
- 2. Fasten seat belt.
- 3. Raise bucket approximately 15 inches (38 cm).
- 4. Release parking brake.
- 5. Release range selector safety lock.
Be sure area is clear of personnel and obstructions. |
- 6. Move range selector to desired direction and speed.
- 7. Depress accelerator.
NOTE: It is possible to start the engine when the range selector lever is in other than NEUTRAL. Should this happen, move the lever to NEUTRAL for a few seconds, then to desired gear speed and direction.
NOTICE |
---|
Speed changes may be made without decelerating or braking. Directional shifts at full engine speed are permissible while in 1st or 2nd. Directional shifts in gear speeds above 2nd should never be made at full engine speed. For safety, operator comfort and maximum service life of power train components, decelerating and/or braking is recommended. |
Use left brake pedal when positioning and raising bucket at the same time. Left pedal disengages the transmission permitting higher engine speed for better hydraulic response. Use right brake pedal for normal braking.
Drive loader forward for best visibility and control.
Travel in reverse when carrying loads down steep grades, selector in low range and engine at 1/2 speed. Control momentum with right brake pedal. Travel forward uphill. Keep bucket low.
Emergency Braking System
Loss of brake pressure will cause the brake indicator on the instrument panel to show RED and the emergency brake to automatically engage, stopping the machine. If operating under load a warning horn will sound also.
After an emergency stop, wait until brake pressure gauge indicates NORMAL before moving the machine. If brake pressure gauge will not indicate NORMAL, investigate and correct reason for loss of brake pressure. |
NOTE: In an emergency, the machine can be moved in 1st gear with emergency brakes applied.
NOTICE |
---|
Moving the machine with emergency brake applied can cause excessive wear or damage to the brake. Repair emergency brake before returning machine to operation. |
Manual Release of Parking Brake
- 1. Block wheels to keep loader from rolling when brake is released.
- 2. Put the safety link in the locked position.
- 3. Remove bolts from storage holes in cover.
- 4. Install bolts in forcing holes and tighten until a solid resistance is felt.
NOTICE |
---|
Remove bolts from forcing holes and install in storage holes before operating loader, after brakes have been serviced. |
