2.1. Positioning Seat
Walk-Around Checks
For your own safety, and maximum service life of the tractor-scraper, make a thorough walk-around inspection before mounting the tractor-scraper or starting the engines. Check for such items as loose bolts, trash build-up, oil or coolant leaks, condition and inflation of tires and condition of cutting edges.
- 1. Check tractor engine crankcase oil level. Oil level should be in safe starting range mark on dipstick.
- 2. Check tractor engine coolant level. Maintain level 1/2 inch (1 cm) below bottom of fill pipe.
- 3. Check tractor engine fuel level.
- 4. Check tractor engine air cleaner service indicator. Have filter serviced if indicator piston is locked in the visible position.
- 5. Check tractor transmission oil level. Oil level should show on gauge.
- 6. Check tractor-scraper hydraulic system oil level. Maintain level above ADD mark in sight gauge or to FULL mark on plunger gauge.
- 7. Check scraper engine crankcase oil level. Oil level should be in safe starting range mark on dipstick.
- 8. Check scraper transmission oil level. Maintain oil level above ADD mark in sight gauge.
- 9. Check scraper engine coolant level. Maintain level 1/2 inch (1 cm) below bottom of fill pipe.
- 10. Check scraper engine air cleaner service indicator. Have filter serviced if indicator piston is locked in the visible position.
- 11. Check scraper engine fuel level.
Positioning Seat
NOTE: Engine must be running and driver seated well back.

Fasten seat belt securely. Always check condition of seat belt. Seat adjustment must be checked at the beginning of each shift and when operators change. |
- 1. Open damping valve.
- 2. For weight adjustment, hold handle back until seat stops moving.
- 3. For height adjustment push lever forward. Bear down to lower seat. Ease weight to raise seat.
- 4. Adjust damping valve for riding comfort.
- 1. For a soft ride, turn handle down.
- 2. For a firmer ride, turn handle up.
- 3. To lock seat in position, turn handle to extreme top.
