(24)Transmission System - Change Oil, Breathers and Wash Screens
- 1. Remove guard.
- 2. Remove drain plug and drain oil.
- 3. Remove cover.
- 4. Separate cover, housing spring and screen. Wash screen in clean solvent.
- 5. Install new cover gasket.
- 6. Install screen, spring and housing to cover. Be sure pin in housing is aligned with hole in cover.
- 7. Install cover.
- 8. Install drain plug.
- 9. Change filter elements (see item 17).
- 10. Remove, discard and use new plastic breather. If a metal breather, remove, wash, oil and replace (see item 17).
- 11. Remove floor plate and transmission fill cap.
- 12. Fill compartment. (Refill capacity on page 36). Start engine and check oil level. Oil should be to FULL mark on gauge.
- 13. Install fill cap and floor plate.
(25)Bevel Gear And Steering Clutch Compartment - Change Oil
- 1. Remove drain plugs and drain oil.
- 2. Clean and install drain plugs.
- 3. Remove, discard and use new plastic breather. If a metal breather, remove, wash, oil and replace (see item 22). Earlier Traxcavators had breather located on top of fill plug.
- 4. Change filter element and wash screen. (See item 22.)
- 5. Remove seat and filler cap.
- 6. Fill compartment. (Refill capacity on page 36.) Start engine and check oil level. Oil should be to FULL mark on gauge.
- 7. Install fill cap and seat.
(26)Final Drives - Change Oil
- 1. Remove fill plugs.
- 2. Remove drain plugs.
- 3. Drain oil from final drives.
- 4. Install drain plugs.
- 5. Fill compartments to level of fill plug opening (Refill capacity on page 36).
- 6. Install fill plugs. Check oil level after a few minutes of operation. Add oil if necessary.
(27)Transmission Control Linkage
Lubricate 2 fittings.
(28)Sprocket Hub Bearings
Check Adjustment:
- 1. Remove guards.
- 2. With a 5 foot (1,5m) bar between the track roller frame and the sprocket. Pry on the bar. If play is noticeable, adjust bearings.
To Adjust Bearings
- 1. Remove lock.
- 2. Loosen clamp.
- 3. Remove cap and lock.
- 4. Loosen adjusting nut (turn clockwise).
- 5. Tighten retaining nut to 350 ± 50 lb. ft. (48,4 ± 6,9 mkg).
- 6. Tighten adjusting nut (turn counterclockwise). Use a 5 foot (1,5 m) extension on wrench.
- 7. Install lock and cover.
- 8. Install lock.
- 9. Tighten clamp.
- 10. Install guards.
NOTE: Adjust both sprocket hub bearings in a similar manner.
