With a lack of wheel coolant, improperly used or dragging brakes can generate enough heat to burn the tire bead. A burning bead produces gases inside the tire. The gases can explode, blowing the tire, rim, and parts of the wheel or final drive as far as 300 ft. (90 m). If smoke, excessive heat, smell of burning rubber or hot brakes, or other indications of bead burning are noticed, move the machine to a remote area. Do not allow personnel within 500 ft.
